The ego is a belief that you are better, and sometimes even worse, than someone else. Its is all about comparing yourself to someone else. There is nothing wrong with having an ego. The problem arises when you become attached to the ego, become identified with it, and someone gets hurt. The ego is an outgrowth of the ‘self’. Your ‘self’ consists of all your perceptions, desires, memories, judgment…s, and intellectual functioning (reasoning). It should be pointed out that the self is not the same thing as the ego. When you believe that the ‘self’ is better or worse than someone else, then the ego is born. The ego is the belief that the ‘self’ is separate from the outside world (objective world).
